Hyra Basit

Hyra Basit is the Program Manager for Digital Rights Foundation's Cyber Harassment Helpline. She has a BSc in Political Science from LUMS and an MS in Media and Production from Indiana University. Hyra previously helped initiate the Helpline project, and is also interested in creating social change through film.

What is catfishing? What is a financial scam, and how do we get trapped into them? In this panel digital rights experts will talk about the psychology of scams and how to protect ourselves. They will highlight why digital spaces are ripe for scamming and how scammers rely on vulnerable populations when searching for their next target.
