Prof. Dr Saiqa Imtiaz Asif is the Vice Chancellor of The Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur striving for gender equity, equitable access to higher education and promotion of research. Prof. Asif has the singular honour of being the first and so far only Vice Chancellor from South Punjab. She earned her degrees from the University of Edinburgh and Lancaster University UK. Prof. Asif is currently enrolled in 18 months course on Higher Education Women Leadership Development with Michigan State University.
Prof. Asif is involved in teacher education and conducts workshops organized by the HEC, PHEC, ACU, British Council and USIS. Revitalization of Endangered Languages is an area close to her heart and she has worked with International Foundation of Endangered Languages in this field. Prof. Asif has published extensively on Sociolinguistics, English Literature and ELT in leading national and international journals and has presented papers in several international conferences held in the UK, USA, Tajikistan, Malaysia, Sweden, China, Japan, Egypt, New Zealand and Singapore.
Prof. Asif has been the recipient of many prestigious awards and scholarships which include ODA scholarship for master studies, Commonwealth scholarship for PhD studies, Commonwealth fellowship for post-doctoral research, Fulbright pre-doctoral scholarship, and Star Woman of the Year award in the field of Education.
