Zomehr Fatima

Zomehr Fatima, a 19-year-old from Lahore, has always been passionate about making a positive impact on her community. With a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Punjab, she is determined to use her knowledge to create a sustainable future. Zomehr noticed that a local area near a school, clinic, and residential houses was suffering from piles of waste. Neglected by authorities despite repeated complaints, the waste created problems for residents, including difficulty in transportation, limited access to schools, bad smells, and health risks from diseases. The unhealthy environment urgently needed attention. Motivated to make a difference, Zomehr and her team organized a cleaning drives through their YLA project. They focused on an area spanning around one kanal, removing six truckloads of waste. The cleanup made the surroundings cleaner and safer for the community, especially for children and families.
