Muqadas Abbasi

Muqadas Abbasi, a 22-year-old from Larkana, has always been deeply committed to improving her community. Muqadas participated in various training programs and certifications, which helped her grow both personally and professionally. Her journey took a transformative turn when she discovered the Pakistan Youth Leadership Initiative (PYLI) through the Sewa Development Trust. She eagerly joined the four-day Youth Leadership training sessions, which offered young individuals the chance to lead climate action. For Muqadas, this was the perfect opportunity to make a meaningful impact in her community. Motivated by the training, Muqadas and her group members developed a proposal for a solid waste management project. They identified a critical issue in Murad Wahan Muhalla, where poor waste management was causing serious challenges. The area was plagued by accumulating trash due to inadequate infrastructure and limited aware-ness. This led to pollution, health risks like respiratory and waterborne diseases, and an overall decline in the quality of life for residents.
