Nazia Ahmed, the Director of ICON Organization, has achieved remarkable success at a young age. Her unwavering dedication to social causes, particularly child protection in Balochistan, women empowerment, and youth development, has earned her widespread recognition and admiration. Her passion for creating positive change in Balochistan is evident through her organization’s numerous initiatives. She is instrumental in providing scholarships to the youth of Balochistan through Google Career Programs, enabling them to pursue higher education and unlock their full potential which has not only empowered the youth but has also contributed to the overall development of the region. In addition to her work with the youth, she has also focused on creating a safe space for women in Balochistan. Despite the harsh conditions and challenges, she has tirelessly worked to break barriers and provide opportunities for women to thrive. Her endeavours have been recognized, and she has been honoured as one of the top 20 socially active females in Balochistan.

    In this fireside chat, Nazia Ahmed, Director of Initiative for Community Network (ICON) and former Head of Nisa Women Institution, and Mehnaz Parveen, Head of Programs, Partnerships and Innovation at Soni Jawari Centre for Public Policy, will share their respective journeys of uplifting the living standards of marginalized and deprived communities, with more emphasis on the women from the same, and especially those in remote areas with issues of exposure, access and opportunities, in Baluchistan and Gilgit-Baltistan, two regions of Pakistan, which, although geographically far apart, tend to be similar in many ways, especially as they suffer from heavy political, cultural and geographical limitations and challenges.
