Areej Khan was diagnosed with hearing loss at the age of 4. For all of her youth she refused to wear hearing aids because of the social stigma around them till her mother said you have to wear them and not care what anyone thinks. Since then Areej has taken inspiration from jewelry artists and bedazzled her hearing aids turning them into stylish accessories and creating acceptance for disability.
