Abuzar Madhu

Abuzar Madhu, a seasoned performing artist, writer, and activist, originally from Kot Radha Kishan and now based in Lahore, has dedicated almost a decade to the performing arts. Collaborating with Sangat Lahore, he engages in theatrical performances that traverse villages. Concurrently serving as a theatre instructor in Lahore, Madhu ardently commits himself to decolonizing the body and mind, emphasizing embodied knowledge and a deep connection to language, culture, and land. As the co-author of the 2017 book "Jagrate Walay,". In a separate endeavor, Madhu passionately collects folklore along the banks of the River Ravi, a continuing passion project. Recently completing projects on environmental narratives ("Sahil ki Kahania") and gender ecology, with British council.His M.Phil thesis, anchored in new indigenous methodologies like performance and dance, delves into the River Ravi and its communities. As a founding member of "Ravi Bachao Tehreek" (Save Ravi), he advocates for the rights of the river, encapsulating his holistic approach to art, academia, and activism.

    Screening Of Milaap : Notes from Where Salt Water meets the Sweet Water + Q&A with Marvi Mazhar and Abuzar Madhu.

    Milaap documentary film features the story of three women and the stories of their lives being impacted due to negligent urban rural planning and its consequences to the river and the sea. The documentary is a visual investigation to open questions about the significance of land and water protection in times of climate crisis but also to provide deeper insight into the rich local shared inherited knowledge which continues to advocate towards living with water, as an ally, in a counter push back towards external development decisions as a form of future’. The documentary film aims to talk about environmental degradation, land rights, human / non-human epistemologies through poems, songs and inherited knowledge.
